So just out of curiosity if the idea of a Xist or Crispr based gene therapy is an idea that is actively being pursued or is it just a theoretical idea at the this point. If it is being actively pursued how can one support this research and when will we likely test such a treatment on triploid animal models. I ask as my fiance works with the down syndrome population so this is an area of great interest to me.

Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful response, Dr. Bretscher. I appreciate the time you took to carefully unpack my question and explain the underlying immunological concepts so clearly. Your explanation of antibody diversity and gene assembly has given me a much deeper understanding of the challenges involved. I am grateful for your insight and the clarity you provided.

Hi Mithra,
Different bodies can certainly have different nutrition needs. Things like allergies, digestive challenges and clinical conditions (e.g., diabetes) can cause certain people to need very personalized dietary advice. In these cases, the best option is to speak with a nutrition expert, like a Registered Dietitian, to find a personalized nutrition plan that works best. Beyond these types of factors, most individuals can lead a relatively healthy life by focusing on eating a wide variety of different types of foods. One strategy to help do this is thinking about if you had a plate in front of you and making it half fruits and/or vegetables, a quarter protein rich foods (e.g., nuts, seeds, chickpeas, beans, dairy products, tofu, fish or meat etc.) and a quarter carbohydrate rich foods (e.g., pasta, rice, bread, potatoes, casava, tortilla etc.). Mixing up the different foods in each section with different meals and snacks can go a long way in supporting health.

In reply to <a href="https://futurumcareers.com/quality-palliative-care-for-people-living-with-dementia#comment-38012">Southend Care</a>.

Dear Southend Care,

Thank you for your email and interest in our article in Futurum Careers. You pose an interesting and yet difficult question. We have found in our work with people living with dementia that they often do not like to think about the future in concrete terms, but they do like to talk about their preferences and what is important to them. We are starting to use creative ways to facilitate discussions with people with dementia to be fun and in the moment, yet discuss their preferences and what they don't like. Right now we are using story-telling as a method called Timeslips by Anne Bastings, here at this link: https://www.timeslips.org/product/creative-care-by-anne-basting/
I hope that you may look into this. We find it lots of fun and will even integrate it into our everyday activities.

Thanks again.

Kind regards,

Nisha

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your comment and questions for Peter. We have forwarded your request to him and will leave it to Peter to reply if he can. Our advice to you would be to contact a patent lawyer or attorney in the first instance and then to seek out a potential partner to help you further develop your idea.

We wish you the very best.
