Looking back on 2024
As we come to the end of another year, we look back on all we have achieved in 2024.
We have published:
- 101 sets of educational articles and activity sheets
- Six issues of our magazine, featuring 15 change makers – individuals and organisations who are striving to make a difference in their communities and in the wider world
- A bonus SHAPE issue, focusing on exciting research and career opportunities in social sciences, humanities and the arts
We have also:
- Created numerous additional educational resources including animations (which bring the research stories to life), careers PowerPoints (which highlight the researcher’s careers advice for students) and podcasts (in which researchers talk candidly about their personal experiences, share inspiring stories of their career journeys and provide practical advice for students)
- Translated articles and activity sheets into French, Spanish, German, Italian, Swahili and Wolof, allowing our educational resources to be accessed by students around the world and to be used as resources for teaching foreign languages
Our resources have been used by students and teachers around the world:
- Over 16,100 downloads from our website
- Over 11,400 downloads from TES
- Over 13,500 downloads from Teachers Pay Teachers
- Over 50,800 views of our animations and podcasts on YouTube
- We have also started uploading our resources to Teacha, an educational resource repository for teachers in Africa
We have attended:
- The SciComm South West Conference, which celebrated all forms of science communication
- Fortuna, a dramatic performance that showcased the findings from the ASPIRES research project into young people’s education and careers aspirations
- The ReSHAPE networking event organised by ASPECT, to connect SHAPE-based researchers
We can’t wait to see what 2025 will bring!
